If you’re looking for an outstanding paint mare with a great attitude, outstanding looks, beautiful color, super conformation, and lots of training, then this is the one for you. Shae is the third horse we’ve owned from the same sire and dam, and wow, it’s been a good breeding. The other two, Dusty Cowgirl and Dusty Dos, are both solid color chestnuts with flaxen manes and tails, but Shae got all the paint color where the other two didn’t. This mare has beautiful black points to her ears, a bay coloring, and generous splashes of white. She’s got the famous “Half Brother” beautiful dished face, great conformation, big hip, and easy-going attitude.
The stallion in this breeding, Half Brother, has over 200 ROM points in steer stopping, team roping, working cowhorse, and reining. He is a beautiful black and white tobiano, and is known for producing colts with beautiful heads, a great conformation, and calm attitudes. The mare, Skippa Wynona, is out of the famous Skipper W bloodlines. Shae stands 14.3 hands and weighs about 1,050 pounds. She’s just the right size for most riders of normal height and weight. She has nice hard dark-colored feet.
Our friend Mindy started Shae out with several months of training, and then Doris began working with her. Both Mindy and Doris follow Clinton Anderson’s training methods, so she’s flexible, yields the hindquarters, moves the forequarters, and takes a light leg cue. Doris rode Shae on a three-day training clinic with Clinton Anderson in Farmington, New Mexico, where she worked 10 hours a day on the horse. In addition to the groundwork and arena work, Shae has also been ridden quite a few days in the mountains. We’ve ridden her on all-day cattle drives, on long trail rides, and for sorting pairs of cattle. This is a very nice horse with a lot of superior qualities. You can take her any direction you want--she’s a super candidate for working cowhorse, team penning, or reining—yet she’s good-looking enough to win halter classes. Shae’s sale price:$6,000
